"Blackcurrant absolute is obtained by solvent extraction via the concrete obtained from the dormant buds of the blackcurrant bush Ribes nigrum L. Blackcurrant absolute is a dark green paste with the characteristic, powerful, penetrating odor of blackcurrants. The typical "catty" note is caused by a sulfurous trace constituent. Blackcurrant absolute is used in fine fragrances and in fruity food flavors."

"The Angelic Fragrances and their Properties... Black Current: Assists in fearful situations, perhaps helping us to recognize elements of ourselves we would rather not face. For learning to forgive and being less judgmental."
~ Valerie Ann Worwood, Aromatherapy for the Soul

"I would crack between my teeth the candied shell of an artificial fruit, and a burst of light would illuminate my palate with a taste of blackcurrant or pineapple: all the colours, all the lights were mine, the gauzy scarves, the diamonds, the laces; I held the whole party in my mouth."
~ Simone de Beauvoir, Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter
