"Le parfum des fleurs de tilleul pesait lourdement dans l'air. Dortchen fit un mouvement sec et saccadé, comme pour s'éloigner. Mais elle hésita, puis tourna les talons et descendit le long chemin sinueux, dépassant l'enchevêtrement de roses de bruyère et pénétrant dans le bosquet secret de tilleuls. Elle cueillit une fleur et la porta à son nez, inspirant profondément. Puis elle s'assit sur l'herbe, la fleur en coupe dans sa main, appuya sa tête contre l'arbre et ferma les yeux. Tout ce qu'elle pouvait entendre était le doux murmure du vent dans les feuilles et le bourdonnement d'innombrables abeilles qui récoltaient le nectar des fleurs blanc crème.
